756
I just happened to catch it on a television station minutes ago while switching screens between the puter and getting ready to put a disk in my beloved xbox 36o. I caught it completely by accident, and i knew when i did...something special was going to happen. That something special DID happen...i saw BONDS break history by becoming the all time homerun leader!
a real classy move was made by HANK AARON who previously said that his comment is that he wasnt going to make a comment regarding his record being broken, but minutes after the record was broken...a recorded message from Mr AARON reverberated throughout the ballpark on the BIG SCREEN congratulating BONDS on his accomplishment. Now would i rather see the record go to someone else other than BONDS, yes.... Do i think AARON has a better character to hold such a prestigious record, absolutely!
one thing that i did realize tho is that it was something incredible to watch regardless who did it and the circumstances around it (steroids and such) Truth is, and i never thought i would say this until right this moment... it doesnt matter if he did or not, its still an incredible feat...thats statement is something i would have shit on someone for saying about 15 minutes ago, but thats really how i feel.
AARON will still be the champ in my eyes, the greatest homerun hitter of all time...Barry Bonds simply holds the record. The truth is, it doesnt matter who holds that incredible number of 756, because its just that...a number, Bonds may have used steroids.... but one thing that we know for sure is that AARON didnt. That alone, gives HANK the upper hand...there is no controversy surrounding AARON, that and he did it in racially motivated times!
It boils down to this, AARON did it with class....BONDS did it like an ass. THATS whats going to separate him and HANK in the history...the LEGACY behind the players, and the fact that HANK AARON did it like a TRUE champion.
David.
